Private Parties at Fox & Hound Tavern in Quincy, MA

We offer three private event areas that can be booked individually, combined for larger groups, or reserved as a full restaurant buyout for maximum capacity. The Den function room accommodates up to 60 guests for a typical seated event. The Tavern main bar area can also hold about 60 guests, including bar seating. The Dining Room seats up to 55 guests.

Each event space has a minimum guest count, and you are responsible for meeting that minimum even if fewer guests attend. For a full restaurant buyout, which requires us to close to the public, the food and beverage minimum varies based on the requested day and time.

We can send everything electronically so you can review and sign the contract and pay the deposit online. To reach the banquet office, visit the “Banquets” tab on our website and complete the online inquiry form. Your event space is not reserved until the contract is signed and the $250 deposit is paid. Weddings and buyouts may require a larger deposit.

Yes. Each event space has a room charge that covers setup, breakdown, and cleanup. The room charge is $100 for the Tavern or Dining Room and $150 for the Function Room. The Function Room fee is higher because guest tables include linen tablecloths. Linen is not required in the restaurant event spaces because they use cherry wood furniture. Room charges may vary depending on the type of event or whether the booking is a buyout.

It is not included in the price per person stated on the menus, so the final invoice will have a 20% gratuity and 7% sales tax added automatically.

No, the final count is final. It is the number that we base everything on-the food, staffing, etc. If we prepare for the final count given, that is what you are invoiced for with no exceptions.

To avoid confusion, we ask that one person serve as the main contact for the event. This helps ensure we receive instructions only from the person authorized to make decisions. If others are helping with decorations, dessert, or other details, please share the contract with them so they understand what is permitted and when they may arrive for setup. Clear communication in advance helps the event day run smoothly.

Your final guest count and menu selections are due one week, or seven days, before the event. You may call the restaurant or email us at [email protected]. Because we place orders early in the week, late submissions may affect menu availability.

Function room tablecloths and napkins are ivory. If you would like colored linen napkins to match your theme, they can be special ordered for an additional $50, with a 100-piece minimum. Please place this order at least one week in advance so it can arrive with our regular delivery.

Your final guest count usually determines the number of tables needed, but each area typically includes the following table ranges for planning purposes:

The Den: 8–9 tables

The Fireside Area: 5–6 tables

The Entire Tavern: 8–10 tables

The Dining Room: 10–12 tables

As outlined in the contract, decorations are allowed with certain restrictions. Nothing may be taped, tacked, or screwed into the walls or woodwork. The function room offers a bit more flexibility because it is a private space separate from the main restaurant. Centerpieces, balloons, table runners, and similar items are permitted, but glitter, confetti, open flames, or anything that could damage the room or create excessive cleanup are not allowed. Only battery-operated tea lights may be used.

In all other restaurant spaces, only tabletop decorations and some balloons are permitted.

Entertainment is typically allowed only in the function room; entertainment in other areas requires approval. We provide music through the restaurant speakers, but the sound system cannot play different music in separate areas. You may adjust the volume or turn the music off. If you want to play your own playlist, please bring your own speaker. If you hire a DJ, the DJ must contact the restaurant in advance to discuss arrival on the day of the event.

Per the contract, you may bring a special-occasion cake or cupcakes; no other outside food or beverages are permitted. If you would like to add dessert to your menu, we offer cookies, brownies, and pastries. We do not accept cake deliveries on your behalf, so please bring any cake or cupcakes with you during your scheduled setup time.

Because kitchen refrigeration space is limited, we cannot store cakes or cupcakes. Please choose a dessert that can safely remain on display for a few hours.

If you bring a special-occasion cake or cupcakes, a dessert service fee applies to cover the services we provide. This includes setting up a linen-covered cake table, supplying china plates, flatware, and paper napkins, cutting the cake, and cleaning up afterward. The fee is $1 per person.

Unfortunately, Board of Health regulations do not allow buffet food to be taken home for safety reasons. Buffet items are held out only for a limited time, and we are responsible for maintaining safe food temperatures. Once food sits out and loses temperature, it can become unsafe to eat and may increase the risk of foodborne illness. Because guests typically eat at the beginning of the event, any remaining buffet food could sit out for several hours before reaching your refrigerator.

A hosted bar means you pay for your guests’ beverages, while a cash bar means guests pay for their own drinks. Hosted bars are charged based on consumption, so you only pay for what is ordered. A 20% gratuity is automatically added to hosted bar charges. You may host non-alcoholic beverages only, beer and wine only, or the full bar.
